It is time to look within to see how we can better utilize and integrate disparate aspects of ourselves in order to be a better partner to other individuals, work and family groups, the Universe, and primarily ourselves. With the Sun and Moon conjunct in Gemini, we get a breath of mutable Air energy into the corners of our psyches and an opportunity to make a fresh start. We all have aspects of ourselves that we shove into the darkness, the "evil twin" of the Self we hide from the world. At this New Moon in Gemini, we work to draw that shadow self into the light to be re-integrated and honored so we can move forward with all the strengths of our whole Selves.
To accomplish this integration in the Gemini vibes, we turn to The Lovers. As I wrote in my column for The Numinous this month, The Lovers was once predominantly seen as an indication of romantic love. But modern Tarot scholars see it as more symbolic of internal and external partnership and pairings, a lesson in maintaining distinct identity in order to be a more fulfilled and fulfilling partner. Internally, this can be experienced as allowing the Shadow Self to remain distinct, but giving her a seat at the conscious table.
