This New Moon in Libra occurs Thursday, October 19 at 12:12pm PT
The Libra New Moon is coming to us at a time of great emotional turmoil. I cannot write about this moon without acknowledging the many, many women (and some men as well) who are reliving their personal experiences of abuse and trauma in the wake of the publication of numerous stories over the past 2 weeks and the past year's political climate. I am not outside of this. This is my experience as well.
Libra is the sign of partnership. It is ruled by Venus, planet of love and beauty. I am taking this New Moon as an opportunity for a new beginning in my partnership with myself, with my trauma, and how both intersect with the world around me; a new beginning of an era of increased love and admiration for myself and all I have been through and accomplished. I invite you to join me.
You will need:
· 1 pink 7-day ritual candle in glass container
· 1 piece of Rhodonite or Rhodochrosite (go with your gut, whichever you are drawn to first)
· 1 printed image of The Lovers
· Pen or pencil
· Frankincense oil (optional)
· Rosemary (optional)
STEP ONE: Cleanse your space, holding the intention that you are preparing it for a sacred operation and that only those beings working for the highest good of all are invited.
STEP TWO: Gather your supplies and settle in to your cleansed space.
STEP THREE: (optional) Put one drop of Frankincense oil in the top of the candle and trace it with your finger 3 times clockwise around. Frankincense oil opens connection to the Heavens. We use it here to call in the eternal love of the Divine.
STEP FOUR: (optional) Sprinkle some Rosemary in the top of the candle. Rosemary is a powerful healer of the heart - both physically and emotionally - and also clears out negativity. We use it here to give our hearts a good, kind, energetic scrubbing.
STEP FIVE: On the back of the printed Lovers card write a love letter to yourself. Use your name. Step outside of yourself and see how strong and capable you are, how incredibly resilient, how smart and funny and beautiful. Every moment in your life has brought you to this exact place and time in this state. Your continued evolution and expansion builds upon everything that has come before. Be effusive in your love letter. Love yourself as you want to be loved by others.
The Lovers card is a representation of healthy partnership. To be healthy, the partners must each maintain their own identity. In our partnership with ourselves, this manifests as an ability to step outside of ourselves and be our own caretaker, to resist judgment and instead encouraging learning and growth.
STEP SIX: Place the pink candle and the Rhodonite or Rhodochrosite on top of The Lovers image (image side up).
Rhodonite promotes outer directed love, compassion, and empathy. If you chose Rhodonite, you will have an extra dose of expansion in how you intersect with the outside world and how you frame the nature of your relationship to others.
Rhodochrosite promotes inner directed love, acceptance and forgiveness of the Self. If you chose Rhodochrosite, you are giving yourself an extra dose of inner work and repair of your relationship with yourself, your inner child, the person you were when you experienced a trauma.
Pink candles are used in spell work for operations involving the heart, particularly concerning emotions.
STEP SEVEN: Light the candle and spend a few minutes in quiet meditation envisioning yourself enveloped in soft pink light that emanates from within you. Know that the Moon, the Universe, and all your Guides and Angels and Ancestors are here to assist and support you. Let your candle burn until it goes out on its own in a fire-safe place. While it is burning, be sure to stay aware of any signs, symbols, or messages that come through. These can be from loved ones, strangers, dreams, signs on the street - anywhere. Spend a few minutes with your candle each day, internalizing this new era of love and beauty you are opening up in yourself.
Happy New Moon, my loves! Let me know how it goes. XoxoMLH
