This Full Moon in Aquarius occurs on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 11:10 AM Pacific Time. The Lunar eclipse will be at its maximum about 10 mins later, at 11:20 AM.
This is the first eclipse of the pair we have in August set to shake things up at the very core of our personal and collective lives. Lunar eclipses generally signal endings and with the Moon in Aquarius, sign of free-thinking and bucking tradition, we can expect to have elements of our lives and our stories that we thought were set in stone crumble before our eyes. This is all for the better! We are living beings, constantly evolving, and we need to shake loose the stangnant in order to make room for new energy to flow in. A major part of this is the radical acceptance of ourselves and our lives exactly as they are. This does not mean we become complacent. Quite the opposite - radical acceptance means we can stop putting energy toward fighting unwinnable fights and redirect it toward building a new day.
For guidance in radical acceptance, we turn to the 10 of Swords. The image on the card as illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith is one of the most frightening in the deck. We see a crumpled figure lying on the ground with 10 swords stabbing into its back. But if we look closely, the visible hand is in the shape of the symbol for blessing. The dark skies are clearing and there is a bright golden day on the horizon. The figure has stopped fighting against the truth of the Swords and has instead chosen to accept and integrate their lessons and in doing this, moves onward and upward.
You will need:
- 1 red 7-day ritual candle in glass container
- 1 piece of Black Tourmaline
- 1 printed image of the 10 of Swords
- Pen or pencil
- Bee Pollen (optional)
- lavender oil (optional)
STEP ONE: Cleanse your space, holding the intention that you are preparing it for a sacred operation and that only those beings working for the highest good of all are invited
STEP TWO: Gather your supplies and settle in to your cleansed space
STEP THREE: (optional) Put one drop of lavender oil in the top of the candle and trace it with your finger 3 times clockwise around. Lavender is calming and comforting. We use its oil here to reassure our beings that we are ok and that this radical acceptance is beneficial and desireable.
STEP FOUR: (optional) Sprinkle a small amount of Bee Pollen in the top of the candle. Bee Pollen promotes optimism. We use it here to keep our sights set on the new day before us.
STEP FIVE: Write on the back of the 10 of Swords card the following affirmation:
The past is a part of me, but does not define me.
I am whole.
Now is perfect.
A new day dawns.
STEP SIX: Place the red candle and the black tourmaline on top of the 10 of Swords card (image side up). Black Tourmaline is a powerful stone for clearing away and transmuting energetic sludge and negativity. It will help us to truly and finally release stale and damaging narratives we have been carrying.
Red candles connect to the root chakra and to our basic life force. We use the red candle here to stay strong and grounded in our bodies during this process.
STEP SEVEN: Light the candle and spend at least 10 minutes (one for each sword) in contemplation over what parts of yourself and your past you have been resisting and can now finally accept. Be kind to yourself. Resist judgment. The goal here is to take your energy and power back from these things that have been weighing you down. Know that the Moon, the Universe, and all your Guides and Angels and Ancestors will be here to assist and support you. Let your candle burn until it goes out on its own in a fire-safe place. While it is burning, be sure to stay aware of any signs, symbols, or messages that come through. These can be from loved ones, strangers, dreams, signs on the street - anywhere. Spend a few minutes with your candle each day, practicing radical acceptance and kindness with yourself.
Happy Full Moon, my loves! Let me know how it goes. XoxoMLH
