This New Moon in Scorpio occurs Saturday, November 18 at 3:42am PT
Scorpio has a well-earned reputation for darkness. The capacity of the fixed water sign to navigate the very deepest and most taboo aspects of the emotional realm allow for life-changing revelations and transformations. Looking our shadow self in the eye only makes us stronger.
What we are going through, what is being revealed to us, what these revelations mean, and how they demand we evolve as individuals and as a society are all pushing us to sink deeply into this Scorpion energy. There is no around. The only way out is through. And to get through to the other side and to a place where we can be whole again and rebuild, we first need to demolish every last bit of architecture holding up a broken system. We need The Tower.
The Tower in the illustration represents a false promise of stability, something we mistakenly took for eternal and authoritative, so much so that when the Tower falls, it is as traumatic as it is dramatic. It can also be glorious. Being free from ideas that constrain us or blind us to the truth allows us to step boldly into a new day, eyes wide open, alive and brave, ready to build a new world.
NOTE: The ritual I wrote for this Moon is more advanced energetically than any I have written because of my use of The Tower card. Take great care to be specific in your writing and your intentions. Be ready to practice self-care as needed. If you feel uncomfortable with this energy, feel free to substitute the Death card or the 6 of Swords.
For more of my thoughts on The Tower, listen to my interview with Lindsay Mack on her podcast Tarot for the Wild Soul.
You will need:
· 1 blue 7-day ritual candle in glass container
· 1 piece of Blue Kyanite
· 1 printed image of The Tower
· Pen or pencil
· Frankincense oil (optional)
· Rose petals (optional)
STEP ONE: Cleanse your space, holding the intention that you are preparing it for a sacred operation and that only those beings working for the highest good of all are invited.
STEP TWO: Gather your supplies and settle in to your cleansed space.
STEP THREE: (optional) Put one drop of Frankincense oil in the top of the candle and trace it with your finger 3 times clockwise around. Frankincense oil opens connection to the Heavens. We use it here to call in the eternal love of the Divine.
STEP FOUR: (optional) Crumble some dried Rose petals in the top of the candle. Roses are the flower of love. We use them here to care for our emotional bodies during this transformative process.
STEP FIVE: On the back of the printed Tower card, write:
"[Universe, Divine, Guides, Angels, Goddess, etc], help me to clear any Towers standing in the way of my evolution and expansion. Help me to see clearly the need for these towers to fall and to care for myself with love and grace. As I step up to the edge of this portal, I trust in you to guide the way, and I trust that the world on the other side is exactly what I need at this moment in my life."
Then, write a short description of the area you want to focus on. You can do this operation to assist in the tearing down of shared Towers in our world (normalization of systemic sexism and racism, tolerance of economic and political models that increasingly reward very few at the expense of very many, etc.) OR you can focus on more personal Towers such as beliefs or ideas about who you are or who you are allowed to be.
STEP SIX: Place the blue candle and the Kyanite on top of The Tower image (image side up).
Blue Kyanite is a stone of psychic vision and extra-sensory perception. It helps us to see the unseen and to navigate safely through uncharted waters of our individual and collective psyches.
Blue candles are used in spell work for operations involving communication and bring in patience and dedication.
STEP SEVEN: Light the candle and spend a few minutes in quiet meditation envisioning yourself enveloped in soft pink light that emanates from within you. Know that the Moon, the Universe, and all your Guides and Angels and Ancestors are here to assist and support you. Let your candle burn until it goes out on its own in a fire-safe place. While it is burning, be sure to stay aware of any signs, symbols, or messages that come through. These can be from loved ones, strangers, dreams, signs on the street - anywhere. Spend a few minutes with your candle each day, feeling the possibilities unfolding before you as the Towers that have been blocking your vision fall.
Happy New Moon, my loves! Let me know how it goes. XoxoMLH
